Balduina district in Rome

The Sapore di Casa Bed & Breakfast is located in the center of Balduina. The area of Balduina is located on the southern slope of Monte Mario, part of the Roman Triumphal district and is the highest area of Rome. The Balduina is divided into three distinct areas: the heart of the city, built around the Piazza della Balduina (a few meters from the B & B Sapore di Casa), while the “Belsito” including Villa Stuart, the area Hotel Cavalieri Hilton, the square of the Gold Medals, the edge of the Victory Park Square and Socrates, and finally the oldest area of the district: Monte Ciocci, near Piazza Juvenal in front of the Vatican Hill. In this area, alongside the Prati di Castello were the furnaces to bake bricks for the building of St. Peter’s. The name “Balduina” comes from Baldwin, brother of Pope Julius III, who in 1500 was the owner of extensive territories on the slopes of Monte Mario.
